Standard vs Oversize:
When machines are new they come with a standard gasket,
after they get a few years older the group head and portafilter body ears
tend to wear from use and even with new gaskets the portafilter handle
will turn too far to the right when locked in. An oversize gasket (when available)
will often take up the extra gap and return a worn machine to original tolerances.
Eventually you will need to replace the portafilter body or repair the worn part on
the group head but a thicker gasket can buy you several years of more use.
O/s gaskets are a better alternative to using gasket spacers.
